The Tinder "disaster match" template is a TikTok and Reels favorite โ a conversation that starts promising and reveals a deal-breaker in the last bubble. The format works because the recipient (and the viewer) gets fully invested before the reveal.
This template uses a five-bubble arc: setup, agreement, plan, confirmation, plot-twist. The final reveal lands harder because the first four messages were perfectly normal โ there was no warning sign until the last word.
Common variations: the deal-breaker is they're "still living with their ex," they bring their mom on first dates, they think the year is 1997, or they only want to talk about their pyramid scheme. Each twist is a separate template; the underlying structure is the same.
