Horror prank texts are a TikTok and Reels staple โ short, dread-loaded conversations that play out in real time. The format relies on three things: a low battery percentage, a 3 AM timestamp, and an "Unknown" sender.
This template hits all three. The low battery (8%) adds time pressure to the scene; the timestamp puts it in the dead-of-night zone where viewers' imaginations fill in the rest; the unknown sender removes any safe explanation.
For maximum effect, pace the reveal in your video: show the first message, hold, show the response, hold, then drop the final "I'm already inside" line on a cut. The pause between bubbles is doing more work than the words. Halloween creators use this format heavily through October.
