Fake "Venmo" texts are one of the most common payment scams — they fake an unexpected payment, then use a fake "confirm" or "on hold" message to push you onto a phishing link. The urgency and the surprise amount are designed to make you click before you think.
This template recreates the scam pattern accurately so you can teach people the tells: a payment you didn't expect, a link that isn't venmo.com, a countdown/threat, and a "fee" for not acting. Real Venmo never texts a link to "release" money.
Use for: scam-awareness reels, digital-literacy lessons, "here's what a scam text looks like" explainers, or bank/fintech safety content. Never use it to deceive a real person.
